Second Chance Fund

The staff of Country Hills Animal Health (CHAH) started the Second Chance Fund to provide financial support to animals that may be otherwise euthanized. Animals that are suffering from injuries or trauma-related conditions that are otherwise healthy, are taken into the care and custody of the Country Hills Animal Health staff. The animals’ corrective surgeries are performed by CHAH doctors who volunteer their time and services. The animals reside at the clinic until a home can be found for them. The clinic matches all monetary donations to the fund.

Kati

My name is Kati.

Two years ago I was brought to Country Hills with my rear leg torn up really bad. I didn’t have anyone to take care of me so Dr. Thompson took me in. He couldn’t save my leg so now I only have 3. I Stayed at Country Hills for almost a month, until I went home with a new family for the weekend.

That family didn’t realize that they would easily fall in love with me, and now I have an awesome home! All day I sleep on a bed with my new friend Jasmine, the family dog. You would never know that I have only 3 legs. Sometimes I even forget. I know that Dr. Thompson and the Second Chance Fund saved my life - Thanks so much.

Coal

My name is Coal.

When I was little, my leg was broken. Dr. Thompson put a metal plate in my leg to fix it. I lived at Country Hills for about a month. Everybody took really good care of me.

One of the technicians took me home for the weekend, so I wouldn’t have to stay at the clinic by myself. I’ve lived with her since then. She’s now my mom and she tells me she loves me everyday, even when I do things I shouldn’t, like chew pillows (my favorite) and shoes. My leg doesn’t bother me at all. I love to run really fast.

I have a good life and I owe it all to the Doctors and Staff at Country Hills and the Second Chance Program. (My mom helped me write this because I don’t know how to write!)

Crash

My name is Crash.

My mom named me that because I might have been hit by a car. A nice woman found me on the side of the road... freezing and wet. I had a broken hip and was near death. When I came to Country Hills, Dr. Wedemayer brought me back to life. Then, Dr. Thompson fixed my hip for me.

Now, I live with a small family (of people and pets!). Libby is my cat friend and Daisy is my dog friend. There is a baby in the family now and I really like him. I like to lay next to him while he plays. My dad is my favorite person, and if he’s home, I’m sleeping on him! I love the home life!

Peter

My name is Peter.

I first came to Country Hills when I was about 4 months old. I jumped out the back of a truck going down the highway and broke my leg. Dr. Thompson put a metal rod in my leg and now it’s like brand new.

I stayed at Country Hills for about a month until one of the receptionists took

me home. I have a very nice mommy that shares her pillow when we sleep. I’m kind of spoiled but I’m worth it. I also have a new little sister who keeps me on my toes. She likes to pounce on me every time I move.

I’m very grateful to the doctor’s and staff at Country Hills. I’m not sure if I would even be alive today if it weren’t for them.
